Mark

Mark is an avid fan of Aerospace, just about anything that
has something to do with rockets. I have talked to Mark in
the past but, I had the pleasure of meeting Mark in person
for the first time at the Rocket Belt Convention. In the past, Mark machined a number
of parts for a rocket belt that Tim Pickens was building.
Tim lost interest in the rocket belt so, he sold it to Stuart
Ross. After Mark met Thomas M. Moore the inventor of the jet
vest. Mark was inspired to build a 1:3 scale model of Moore's
jet vest that is pictured below.

As you can see, Mark has a machine shop in his home that
most of us can only dream about.

Mark has decided to build a rocket belt for himself. As you can see Mark is a master machinist.
The pictures below are of the control handles Mark made without using CNC handles.
Mark made all of the parts show below except for fasteners and rod-ends. The handles are mounted in plastic bushings using a central aluminum spindle and attached to the handle mount using an "eddy-bolt" with an A286 flanged distorted thread lock nut. The rod-end mounting shoulder screws are all safety wired.
The handle and handle spindle are made from 7075-T73, center bushing are Delrin AF, the thrust bushing is PTFE and the handle parts are 6061-T6.
