Back in the seventies and early
eighties I bought my 90% Hydrogen Peroxide from FMC. It was shipped
to us in 24 Gallon double lined aluminum barrels.
When I first started buying it, the price was $150.00 a barrel.
As more and more Rocket Cars were being built. One of the Rocket
Car racers was not returning the empty barrels, so there was a
shortage of barrels, so FMC said they were not going to make any
more barrels and promptly raised the price to $1200.00.
This same racer who had allot of money came to the conclusion
if he still kept all the barrels he would run all the rest of
the Rocket car owners out of business.
What happened was that plan backfired FMC decided if you wanted
90% Hydrogen Peroxide. You now had to buy a whole tanker full,
and have proper storage for it. Needlessly to say that was the
end of Rocket Car Racing in the USA.
